St Thomas School and Preschool is part of the parish of the Holy Cross Church, Goodwood.

The school is also an integral part of the Emmaus Cluster of Goodwood, Kingswood and Colonel Light Garden parishes in the care of Fr John Shanahan.

The school and parish share in the same spirituality of the Sisters of Mercy.

We are fortunate enough to be guided by the vision of the sisters to carry out the mission of mercy guided by prayerful consideration of the needs of our time.

To say that mission centres us is to acknowledge that our lives are “of, from and for God”

The partnership between parents, the school and the parish is central to supporting the faith formation of our children. Families engaged in on going faith formation carries out the life and mission of the church.  The key to this is the Eucharist.

Our students are encouraged to actively participate in the parish through Liturgy of the Word, Family Masses and through the Parish Based Sacramental Program.

Sacramental preparation, is for students wishing to celebrate Baptism, Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.                                              

It is open for children from 7 years of age who show an understanding of the sacraments with the guidance of their parents.     

The program is facilitated by the Parish Associates Sr Jasmine Lawrence and Carmel White and is based on a model of families and caregivers working together with the parish and schools to provide meaningful and relevant preparation and celebration.

The Young Families Chapel is available for parents and carers with their pre-school children. There are materials and toys available for the children to use.

Parishioners are warmly welcomed to school and class mass and liturgy celebrations throughout the term.
